Partnering with Microsoft, Estée Lauder Companies (ELC) is setting up an AI Innovation Lab to enhance its beauty offerings. Through this collaboration, ELC intends to leverage AI technology to refine its product development processes and elevate customer experiences.
Among the innovations, ELC plans to introduce an internal chatbot across its brand portfolio, streamlining customer interactions and swiftly adapting to evolving beauty trends and consumer preferences. Moreover, the integration of generative AI will expedite new product development, ensuring swift responses to emerging trends and ingredient preferences.
Jane Lauder, ELC's EVP of Enterprise Marketing and chief data officer, emphasised the role of technology in augmenting their commitment to quality products and personalised consumer experiences. By harnessing Microsoft's expertise in generative AI, ELC aims to deliver tailored consumer experiences and accelerate time-to-market, ensuring relevance in local markets.
The collaboration between ELC and Microsoft extends beyond AI innovation, dating back to 2017 when they joined forces to develop the Voice-Enabled Makeup Assistant app, catering to visually impaired users.
Shelley Bransten, corporate VP of Global Industry Solutions at Microsoft, highlighted the transformative potential of generative AI in the beauty industry, envisioning enriched customer engagements, expedited product launches, and sustainable innovation.
Notably, the emergence of AI-powered solutions in skincare is gaining momentum, exemplified by The Inkey List's AI-driven acne analysis tool, which offers personalised skincare recommendations based on real-time facial analysis.
