MAKE-UP DOMINATES UK SALES ON TIKTOK SHOP

In the realm of TikTok Shop in the UK, makeup reigns supreme. According to insights from consumer firm NIQ, colour cosmetics made up a striking 42% of all sales on the platform over the last year.

Following closely behind are skincare and hair care, accounting for 25% and 11% of sales, respectively. It's the dynamic Gen Z consumers who take the lead in spending on beauty products through this app.

The enticing visual appeal of beauty products seamlessly fits the social media landscape, enabling the creation of captivating ads and authentic content that resonates with audiences. Influencers, too, play a pivotal role in enticing consumers and driving sales within this thriving ecosystem.

Fragrance has also made a notable impact, contributing to 9% of sales over the past year in the UK.

In the bigger picture, personal care products make up a significant 61.3% of all sales on TikTok Shop in the UK, surpassing categories like kitchen appliances, stationery, and cleaning products.

Undoubtedly, the surge in beauty content on TikTok is a driving force behind this growth, with the hashtag #makeup boasting an impressive 530 billion views on the platform.

TikTok Shop made its debut in the US and UK in September 2023, following a soft launch in November of the previous year. This in-app shopping platform empowers creators to showcase and sell products directly to their followers, creating an engaging and interactive shopping experience.
