GARNIER AND LOOP INDUSTRIES COLLABORATE ON SUSTAINABLE PACKAGING SOLUTION

Garnier has announced a new partnership with Loop Industries Inc, a leading technology company committed to transforming the plastics economy through innovative recycling solutions.

Garnier, a global beauty brand known for its sustainable approach to product packaging, has announced an exciting new partnership with Loop Industries Inc, a leading technology company committed to transforming the plastics economy through innovative recycling solutions.

This collaboration aims to accelerate the circular plastics economy by introducing Garnier's first Micellar Cleansing Water All-In-1 bottle made of plastic waste previously considered unrecyclable.

The new Garnier Micellar Water bottle is made of 100% recycled polyethylene terephthalate (PET) plastic sourced from previously unrecyclable plastic waste, which was processed using Loop Industries' revolutionary depolymerization technology.

This is a significant milestone for Garnier and Loop Industries, as the partnership promises to revolutionize the way that plastic waste is handled in the beauty industry and beyond.

Adrien Koskas, Garnier's Global Brand President, expressed his excitement about the partnership and what it represents for the future of sustainable packaging.

He said, "We are proud to be working with Loop Industries to launch the first Garnier Micellar Water bottle made of previously unrecyclable PET plastic waste. This technology has the potential to change the game when it comes to recycling, and our partnership demonstrates our continued efforts to bring to market more environmentally friendly packaging, as part of our bold commitment to encourage plastic circularity."

Loop Industries' founder and CEO, Daniel Solomita, expressed his enthusiasm about the partnership with Garnier and the potential for their technology to make a positive impact on the environment.

He said, "This partnership with the Garnier brand is an important step towards making circularity the norm and showcasing that today's waste can be tomorrow's resource. We are proud to work with forward-thinking partners such as Garnier, who are determined to make a positive change."

The depolymerization technology developed by Loop Industries is a major breakthrough in addressing the low level of recyclability of plastic waste.

Traditional mechanical recycling processes are limited by various technical constraints, and depolymerization technology provides an innovative solution to these challenges.

The technology utilizes low heat and no added pressure to convert low-value plastic and polyester fiber waste into 100% recycled virgin-quality Loop PET resin. This resin is suitable for both food-grade packaging and polyester fiber applications and, if sorted correctly, is infinitely recyclable.

The Micellar Cleansing Water All-In-1 bottle made of recycled PET plastic waste will first hit the shelves in April 2023 in Garnier's largest market, the United States, and the brand's home market of France.
